Healthy Rhode Island 2010

Healthy Rhode Island 2010 In 2000, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched the third generation of national health objectives with the adoption of Healthy People 2010. Rhode Island, like most other states, has adopted the Healthy People 2010 agenda using the two overarching goals, ten Leading Health Indicators and corresponding objectives, which are found in Healthy Rhode Islanders 2010: Baselines and Targets, as a roadmap toward a healthier Rhode Island by 2010. A Healthier Rhode Island by 2010: A Plan for Action pdf finalized in May 2004, is a guide to public health improvement efforts in Rhode Island over this first decade of the 21st century. The plan provides a snapshot of how Rhode Island measures up to Healthy Rhode Island 2010’s 27 objectives and an overview of evidence-based strategies to address each objective. It is hoped that Rhode Island organizations and individuals will use this information to develop and implement interventions to improve the quality and years of life and eliminate disparities for all Rhode Islanders.

Overarching Goals:

1. Increase quality and years of healthy life
