Early Intervention is a program that promotes the growth and development of infants and toddlers with developmental challenges. Children who are under three years of age who have a developmental delay in one of more areas may be eligible. Developmental delays can affect a child’s speech, physical ability, or social skills. Effective January 1, 2005, the Early Intervention Program will be administered by the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS). For more information, check the DHS Website (Early Intervention Program) or call the Department of Human Services Information Line at 462-5300.
