Tobacco Dealer's License It is unlawful to sell or offer for retail, give away, or deliver tobacco without a tobacco dealer's license from the Town of Coventry. Retailers must obtain a state license prior to requesting a city license. The license is good for 5 years. The Coventry Police Department will conduct at least 2 compliance checks of every license holder each year. Violators will be checked more frequently until 2 checks are completed without violation. Violators must appear in court and are subject to fines and suspension or revocation of license. Businesses which have vending machines are subject to the same.

Smoking in Restaurants All licensed restaurants (excluding bars prohibiting entrance to persons under 21 years of age) must either make the entire restaurant completely smoke-free or provide a separate, enclosed smoking area. No one under 18 may be served in the smoking area. The separate, enclosed smoking area must be separated by solid walls, floors, ceilings and automatically closing doors. It must be at negative pressure with respect to smoke-free areas and all air must be immediately exhausted to the outside of the building. Violations are punishable by fine, mandatory attendance at a tobacco education session, and suspension or loss of license.
