What is diabetes?

stamp

Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's insulin and impairs the body's ability to use food nutrients properly.  Insulin is the hormone produced by the pancreas that allows sugar in the blood to enter cells, where it is stored or burned for fuel, thereby helping the body "run".  There are several types of diabetes including Type1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
