Diabetes Prevention and Control Program

What is the DPCP?

The Rhode Island Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) was created by the Rhode Island Department of Health in 1978, with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to reduce the burden of diabetes in the State.

In 2001, there were an estimated 78,000 persons with
diabetes in Rhode Island (about 52,000 diagnosed and
26,000 not diagnosed). More information on local and
national diabetes trends is available
.

Vision of the DPCP

We envision a Rhode Island where all people with diabetes have equal opportunities to live full, productive, healthy and satisfying lives.
