Diabetes Outpatient Education
(DOE)

What is DOE? Diabetes Outpatient Education
DOE classes are available in your community and costs are covered by most insurance companies. For more information, please contact Lonnie Beattie for a brochure.
Certified DOE Educators are trained to provide state-of-the art diabetes education information and treatment methods to people with diabetes and other related chronic diseases
- In Rhode Island there is one educator for every 267 people and one DOE program for every 1,314 people with diabetes (DCP, 2002). Without the state's DOE certification program there would be one educator for every 3,067 people, and one program for every 15,333 people with diabetes.
- For more information on the DOE program please download the presentation "Rhode Islands Statewide Diabetes Outpatient Education (DOE) System" (2002)
