VisionA Rhode Island in which people with asthma live normal, healthy lives, confident in their ability to manage asthma, and confident in the support of the community. MissionThe Rhode Island Asthma Control Program will achieve its vision of asthma control in the State by:
Community PartnersThe Program works closely with the American Lung Association of Rhode Island (ALARI), health care providers, and community organizations to achieve its vision of asthma control. Financial SupportThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta provides the Asthma Control Program with financial support and expert guidance through a cooperative agreement with the Rhode Island Department of Health. An Asthma Control Plan for Rhode IslandThe partners have developed a statewide Asthma Control Plan for Rhode Island. In 1999, prior to the establishment of the Program, many local asthma control experts met and shared their thoughts on asthma control by contributing to a special CME edition of Medicine and Health / Rhode Island, Rhode Island's journal of medicine and public health practice. Physicians had the opportunity to obtain 2 hours of category 1 credit by reading the edition and completing a quiz before July 1, 2001. |
